Privacy policy

VinSage is a Chrome extension that helps you check a used car. This page explains, in plain words, what the extension does with data. In short: no account, no ads, no analytics, and nothing is sold.

What the extension reads

What is sent, and to whom

To look up a car, the extension sends vehicle details straight from your browser to these public government services:

These services receive your request like any website visit, including your IP address, and their own privacy policies apply. VinSage does not send the listing price, mileage or your personal details to them, and VinSage does not run its own server for these lookups.

What is stored

The extension saves, in Chrome's local extension storage on your computer: your market setting (Canada or US), a random install ID that is not linked to your name or email, which cars or plan you have paid for, and any cars you save to your garage. You can clear all of it by removing the extension.

What we do not do

This website

vinsage.app is a simple static site. It sets no cookies and loads no analytics or ads. Our host may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for security. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which may keep these logs under its privacy policy.

Payments

Paid features (Car Pack and Pro) are bought through Stripe Checkout. You enter your card and email on Stripe's page, not in VinSage, and Stripe's privacy policy applies. Stripe tells our server (api.vinsage.app, on Cloudflare) that a payment succeeded, along with your install ID and, for a Car Pack, the VIN. We store only that install ID, the VINs unlocked and whether Pro is active, so the extension can unlock them. We do not receive or store your card number.
